COMPOSITION
Pieter, Ester and their son Lambert are staying in Lentehof with 11 boys. The youngest is 6 years and the eldest 16 years old.
INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
All the boys are interested in rugby, soccer, swimming, fishing and music. Hendrik is a good athlete and plays soccer.
We take the children to a nearby dam for fishing and they enjoy it very much.
CHURCH AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The Dutch Reformed churches involved are Bethlehem Eureka, Reitz East and Reitz. They made the children’s rooms cosier with pretty duvets and curtains. They also received birthday presents and birthday parties.
In many instances we receive meat, fruit, vegetables and “mielies” from the community.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HOUSE
The big marble donor’s slab with the names of all the donors from the Harrismith circuit of the Dutch Reformed Church decorates the front entrance. The lovely big oak tree and the big veranda give a peaceful atmosphere where the children can play. We try to raise the children as a family with a Christian foundation and a sense of values.
CHURCH AND SCHOOL PARTICIPATION
We attend the Dutch Reformed Church in Eureka and the boys also participate in the activities of the youth. Bible study is held every Wednesday evening by members of the church council.
Our boys attend the following schools: Voortrekker High School, Maluti Hoogland Special School and Truida Kestell School. The toddlers are in The Anchor nursery school.
