Karee

PERSONNEL

Child Care Worker:
Joyce Moroeng

Relieve Child Care Worker:
Kobie Pitout

General Assistant:
Mirriam Mngomezulu

COMPOSITION

Joyce lives in Karee with 10 boys. Their ages are between 9 months and 16 years.

INTERESTS

The children are mostly interested in music, dance and sports, especially soccer. One of the boys enjoys leading house assembly and two other ones enjoy preparing food.

CHURCH AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Karee has no church and community group which is involved in helping the house financially. The children receive clothes from people in the community and are lucky to enjoy a meal at the Wimpy once a quarter. In many instances we receive meat, fruit, vegetables and “mielies” from the community.

A dentist and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Uitenweerde, are involved at our house and help to make our house beautiful.

CHARACTERISTICS

Karee boys participate in gardening every Saturday morning and they enjoy it.

CHURCH AND SCHOOL PARTICIPATION

We attend the Dutch Reformed Bethlehem West services on Sundays.

Karee has children who attend different schools in town and in the location, such as Maluti Hoogland Special School, Bethlehem Combined School, Motshepuwa Primary School and Thabo Thokoza.

NEEDS

Karee’s needs are the following:
  • The house needs to be painted
  • A computer and dictionaries
  • A microwave oven
  • A polisher
  • Kettles, irons, frying pans and bedding for the boys who are leaving the centre at the end of the year.
