COMPOSITION
Esmé live together with 11 daughters in Jania. Esmé is in service since 19 January 2009. The children’s age range from 8 to 19 years.
INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
The girls are interested in first aid, athletics, drama and the making of bangles and necklaces. Chantelle and Melanie are good athletes in Maluti Hoogland Special School.
CHURCH AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The four Dutch Reformed Churches that are involved are Parys, Koppies, Koppies-Weltevrede and Oranjeville. These congregations love taking us out on camps and other outings. One of our daughters teeth were very badly set, yet one of the congregations arranged for a free setting with a dental surgeon. Her teeth really look pretty now and she has much more confidence. A local hairdresser takes care of the children's hair.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HOUSE
In the entrance hall are group photos of the children that have been in this house over the past years. We also have a wedding photo of one of the girls that has been here. She came back to get married out of this house.
CHURCH AND SCHOOL PARTICIPATION
We attend Bethlehem Dutch Reformed Church and the girls also participate in the Sunday school. Wednesday evenings, Rev. Jannie Maree presents us with Bible study. The children enjoy it very much.
The girls attend three different schools: Voortrekker High School, Truida Kestell Primary School and Maluti Hoogland Special School. One of our daughters will be completing school this year. Next year she will go to Potchefstroom University.
NEEDS
- The house needs bedding and cutlery.
- A kettle, iron, frying pan and bedding for the girl who leaves school at the end of the year.
