COMPOSITION
Frikkie, Margaret and Madri stay in Jakaranda with 11 boys. The youngest is 9 years and the eldest 18 years.
INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Some boys in Voortrekker High School play rugby. One boy in Truida Kestell Primary School started to play rugby and another three play rugby at Maluti Special School.
CHURCH AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The Dutch Reformed Churches that are involved are Bethlehem Môrelig, Parys East and Warden.
Bethlehem Môrelig is involved with our house. They treat the boys with cake and sweets on their birthdays. There are groups who also deliver groceries and parcels during the month. They provide us with groceries once a term.
Parys East also do a lot for us and make monthly financial donations. Some of their church members visit us from time to time. They never come empty handed, and treat the boys with something nice to eat. They also help to keep our house in a good condition.
Once a term, we are all invited to the Wimpy for a free meal. We also receive a lot from the community.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HOUSE
Our house has an intimate, home-loving atmosphere. There is place to play rugby and soccer. The main room in the house is the dinning room were we play games, watch TV and DVD’s.
CHURCH AND SCHOOL PARTICIPATION
We attend the service and Sunday school of the Dutch Reformed Church Bethlehem Môrelig. The boys also participate in all the other activities.
The boys attend the following schools: Voortrekker High School, Maluti Hoogland Special School and Truida Kestell Primary School.
One boy will be completing school this year.
